The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a workshop to review a
regulation handed down five months ago that bans foreign-style symbols,
sculptures and worship objects unsuitable for Vietnamese culture.
No entries were qualified enough to be chosen for the final round of the national costume design contest held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, according to the organisers.
Art made in traditional handicraft villages in the southern Central and
Central Highlands regions, as well as Champa sculpture, should be
preserved and publicised, according to Tran Khanh Chuong, chairman of
the Viet Nam Fine Art Association.
